Award Winning Ramen

Award Winning Ramen

This is a fairly posh place for a ramen shop. It's still got the usual counter seating and ticket machine but the fixtures and fittings are much fancier than a usual ramen shop. Now the ramen. This is a super rich chicken soy soup. It has so much flavour and tastes fantastic. The noodles are amazing, they soak up the flavour of the soup and taste so good. I'm surprised to find wonton in here too and they taste so good. There's two types of meat, beef and chicken. The chicken is great and the beef is nice and rare too, like strips of roast pork from a Sunday dinner. My only criticism is that the egg is not cut in half but that's a pointless criticism because it's otherwise a perfect deep orange, runny egg. This has honestly been a mind opening experience. This is the best non-tonkotsu ramen I've ever had. I wanted to order another before I'd finished because I didn't want it to stop.

Teshikaga Ramen

7/10 Teshikaga Ramen A nice fishy bowl of ramen. The highlight for me was the noodles. They were such a deep colour and had great flavour and chewiness. The meat was barbecued pork and tasted good. The menma and spring onions were also good. Like I said, it was a fishy soup which isn't my favourite but the flavour was light and it made for a great bowl of ramen. I'd definitely eat again at one of their many stores. Salt Ramen in Shinjuku

7/10 Salt ramen in Shinjuku This was a solid flavourful soup with 3 types of delicious meat and 2 wantons. The toppings of menma and scallions were nice. The egg could have been better both in terms of marination and yolk softness. The noodles were the biggest let down for me. They were a nice thickness and firmness but lacked flavour. Overall a good ramen but didn't live up to its peers standards. 麺屋 翔 本店 7-chōme-22-34 Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tōkyō-to 160-0023 03-3364-5787 https://maps.app.goo.gl/DuBhJghxUjJFNNry8

Another Michelin Recommended Ramen

7/10 Another Michelin Recommended Ramen This is really good ramen. The best bit is the meat, it's absolutely amazing. There's 4 different types and each one is fantastic. The noodles are soba and they're really light and delicious. The soup is also really light but a bit fishy for my liking. It is really delicate and not at all a fishy soup but the fish is there and I don't like it. All of the toppings are really high quality and taste fantastic. I'm a little sad because this was exceptional ramen but that slight fish taste let it down for me. I really wanted to love it.
