More Tsukemen

7/10 More Tsukemen This is the best tsukemen I've had so far. Usually I'm not a big fan of tsukemen because it has a very fishy taste but this one isn't very fishy at all. It does have a very strong flavour which is usual with tsukemen compared to traditional ramen. The noodles are thick, chewy and delicious. The meat is amazing. There's two types and each one is so tasty. My favourite is the thick, fatty piece which is been marinated and seasoned very well. The egg is also well marinated and tastes great. There's menma and chunks of meat in the soup that taste lovely from being soaked in the soup. Overall a fantastic tsukemen and one I would happily return to.  Noodle Musashi Takatora 2-chōme-19-7 Takadanobaba, Shinjuku-ku, Tōkyō-to 169-0075 03-5273-0634 https://maps.app.goo.gl/SHddGf8UDeLtxFcBA

Another Michelin Recommended Ramen

7/10 Another Michelin Recommended Ramen This is really good ramen. The best bit is the meat, it's absolutely amazing. There's 4 different types and each one is fantastic. The noodles are soba and they're really light and delicious. The soup is also really light but a bit fishy for my liking. It is really delicate and not at all a fishy soup but the fish is there and I don't like it. All of the toppings are really high quality and taste fantastic. I'm a little sad because this was exceptional ramen but that slight fish taste let it down for me. I really wanted to love it. Salt Ramen Time

9/10 Salt Ramen Time I'm not sure if it's just this ramen or all salt ramen is like this but the salt ramen really brings out the taste of the meat/bones that the soup has been cooked with. It's absolutely delicious and I can't get enough of the flavour. The noodles are really good, they're medium thickness and firm how I like them. The meat is so good, it's been cooked perfectly and has loads of flavour. The spring onions are just the white part which I really like and the menma is really good. I don't normally like seaweed but on this ramen it's fantastic and really complements the flavours. This is one of the best ramen I've had in Tokyo and I'll be looking forward to trying more salt ramen in the future. Miso Ramen In Tokyo

8/10 Miso Ramen In Tokyo This is fantastic miso ramen. The soup is so tasty, and the miso tastes amazing. The meat is delicious, really fatty and melts in your mouth. There's so many vegetable toppings, but I did ask for the large portion. They're all delicious because they were stir fried with the miso right in front of us. The noodles are interesting in a good way. I can't put my finger on it but they're super thick and chewy, really good noodles. I can easily believe that this is the best miso ramen in Tokyo and couldn't recommend highly enough. Rustic, Fishy Ramen

7/10 Rustic, Fishy Ramen This is a fishy one. Fish, super salty soup and even little fishes sitting on top. It's got a little spice which neutralises the fish and it tastes really good. I'm not a fish fan but I really like this. There's a couple of inch-thick noodles on here which is a fun addition. The egg is massive although doesn't seem to be marinated but still tastes lovely. The meat is super thick and fatty. Not the usual cut for ramen, seems more like brisket. The noodles are homemade and super thick and wavy. They really bring out the flavour of the soup as you eat them. This is a really good, big bowl of ramen and I'm sure for fish fans it's delicious. As fish isn't my thing this will never live up to a good tonkotsu for me. Ramen Nagi 1-chōme-1-10 Kabukichō, Shinjuku-ku, Tōkyō-to 160-0021 03-3205-1925 https://maps.app.goo.gl/ksVMYjgq29SA4iCv9

Michelin Star Ramen

7/10 Michelin Star Ramen So we got our tickets at 8am this morning and now we're waiting in line at our timeslot, 12 noon. This was tasty ramen which I greatly enjoyed eating. However, I personally don't believe this was worth the hype. First of all I'm not an expert in what deserves a Michelin star but in my head it's the opposite of what good ramen is - greasy fast food. The soup was soy based and had truffle oil which was very unique although I'm not such a big fan of truffle even in European food. The noodles were soba and not the usual you get with ramen and I think that let it down as I really like ramen noodles. The meat was thin tasty strips of pork and there was a lovely egg and spring onions for toppings. The menma was long and stringy which I didn't like. Objectively this was very tasty but didn't do it for me as a bowl of ramen. Honestly I wouldn't recommend this, it's not worth the effort of getting a ticket early in the

Award Winning Ramen

9/10 | Gold star Award Winning Ramen This is a fairly posh place for a ramen shop. It's still got the usual counter seating and ticket machine but the fixtures and fittings are much fancier than a usual ramen shop. Now the ramen. This is a super rich chicken soy soup. It has so much flavour and tastes fantastic. The noodles are amazing, they soak up the flavour of the soup and taste so good. I'm surprised to find wonton in here too and they taste so good. There's two types of meat, beef and chicken. The chicken is great and the beef is nice and rare too, like strips of roast pork from a Sunday dinner. My only criticism is that the egg is not cut in half but that's a pointless criticism because it's otherwise a perfect deep orange, runny egg. This has honestly been a mind opening experience. This is the best non-tonkotsu ramen I've ever had. I wanted to order another before I'd finished because I didn't want it to stop. Ramen Yamaguchi 3

My First Tsukemen

7/10 My First Tsukemen First of all, I need to say that I accidentally ordered the super portion of noodles, 800g. Tsukemen is made with fish broth and I'm not a big fan of fish. It's still very delicious but not too much to my personal preference. The egg I got was really nicely marinated and the yolk was perfect. The meat was a bit odd, not sure what it was. The noodles are think, chewy and delicious but there's so many of them. I enjoyed this, even if it was far too many noodles, but I'm not a fan of the fatty fish soup. 三田製麺所 池袋西口店 〒171-0021 Tōkyō-to, Toshima City, Nishiikebukuro, 1-chōme−40−1 大昇ビル1F 03-5911-3839 https://maps.app.goo.gl/tgPsFN6fKXQQr8gz8

Eddy Two Dinners Returns

6/10 Eddy Two Dinners Returns I should start by saying that I did eat a gyudon at Sukiyaki an hour ago so that might taint my opinion. This is fantastic value ramen and it's very tasty. The broth is extremely fatty, you can see so much collagen floating in there. These days I find bean sprouts on ramen to be rather tiresome and not appreciated. The menma leaves something to be desired as well. The noodles are very thick and taste ok. The meat is the best part of the ramen, it melts in your mouth. This is fantastic value ramen and it's very tasty but has a lot of room for improvement. Ikebukuro Tokyo Tonkotsu Noodle

7/10 Ikebukuro Tokyo Tonkotsu Noodle This is the same chain as yesterday and I have to say my first impressions are not as flavourful broth. The broth is much lighter and not as tasty. The noodles are good, thick and chewy but not so flavorful. This ramen has a lot more toppings and 2 types of meat. The meat is great but the menma are a bit plain. The egg is lovely. A solid bowl of ramen but I have to say the Shinjuku store was more flavourful and a better bowl. 東京豚骨ラーメン 屯ちん 池袋本店 〒171-0022 Tōkyō-to, Toshima City, Minamiikebukuro, 2-chōme−26−2 ルート南池袋ビル 1F 03-3987-8556 https://maps.app.goo.gl/cMiHdZYRDGyhc5d19

Shinjuku Tokyo Tonkotsu Noodle

8/10 Shinjuku Tokyo Tonkotsu Noodle This is a top notch tonkotsu ramen. The soup is fantastic and fatty. You get one long piece of meat and it's delicious. The noodles are lovely and thick and chewy. Just fantastic. The egg is lightly marinated and a little over cooked for my liking. The menma is good and has a little spicy seasoning on it. Overall a solid bowl of tonkotsu.
